plastic surgery cup ad!

Here's an interesting, perhaps fun ad on a cup! You position the cup, drink from it, and whala, you have a new nose and upper lip. The ads for plastic surgery and I'm sure it'll capture a few customers, though, I think kids will have more fun swapping cups...perhaps a collectible.

Entrepreneurialism: the new rock 'n' roll

I came across this inspiring article about being an entrepreneur and making your passion reality. Reminds me of the billion dollar networks. Give it a read, and think about it. I truely believe that more and more people will run their own business in todays fast paced digital society.

Isle Lounge

The widely popular Isle Lounge Chair(sofa) is finaly available for sale, even though the price is still rather high, but to have one of these suckers in my house would rock!!(given I had a space for it) Roll around in it, sit and lounge with 10 others in it, take a picture and look like a munchkin in it, or even roll a basketball around you for endless hours of fun. I'm sure if I ever got one of these beauties I'll feel like a kid again.

Fuselage Library concept (lot-ek)

Lot-ek has always been a favorite in the realms of sustainable architecture along with an assortment of incredible projects dealing with art, architecture, information, urban reality, and technology woven into our everyday lives. Recently they introduced an astonishing concept for a library using over 200 Boeing 727 and 737 fuselages. The fuselage is the ONLY part of a decommissioned airplane that cannot be effectively recycled. Check out their site for some very inspirational ideas, especially their use of cargo vessels.

Color Changing Concrete!

Chronos Chromos concrete brings to us adaptable concrete that changes colors to create images, text, or just plain cool ambient aesthetics. In a large space. The transition is a bit slow, but has a magical blurring quality to it. I'm not sure how much this system would cost, but I look forward to finding and experiencing it soon. Check out their demo video! (takes awhile to download)

3M Security Glass Ad

Great ad by 3M on a bus stop. I wonder how many theives sat around this late into the night. I’d expect to see a few scratches here and there after the first few weeks. From what the posts says, yes, it’s real money.

Vectorial Elevations Project

Vectorial Elevations is one of these rare projects that gets users to interact online as well as react off-line in a large public space. Users anywhere in the world could participate. 18 robotic spotlights were networked to a server in a large public square in Mexico city. On-line participants created animated sequences of patterns using all 18 spotlights. Throughout the night, these on-line sequences would become reality in the space where thousands of people would view, react, and awe in an amazing projected atmosphere. On-line users could view their creations via webcams. How cool is that!

Ocean Power Delivery

OPD, Ocean Power Delivery, creates an amazing system for generating up to 750 kilowatts of electricty from the movement of offshore waves. Renewable energy is a huge topic into our near future and OPD is one very unique option to follow. I wonder if theres a system to renew energy through roads, highways, or the freakin shaking floors in malls when you just stand still. Perhaps malls will one day be partially powered by the traffic they get.

Aaron Jasinski

I StumbledUpon some great music by Aaron Jasinkski who also has some great illustrations. His beats are ambient experimental tunes that are great to sketch to or when your in that 'brainstorming by yourself' moment. Good stuff!

Sexy shower heads

It's curious how industrial products are slowly evolving back to their natural stages. Pictured above are two showerheads connecting you to nature a bit more. First, a shower head that rains on you in a sexy kinda way, then another one that actually creates a cloud that rains on you...pretty cool yeah!!!

An Inconvenient Truth (Climate Crisis)

Watch this preview for the movie "An Inconvenient Truth" about the troubling Climate Crisis. I had the great opportunity to hear, listen to, and interact with Al Gore at the TED conference where he spoke passionately about this global issue. His personality during the conference was incredible. The content that he presented was mind-boggling. I can't wait for this movie to reach a larger audience in hope for changes that must be made.

USB funnies

It's great how the usb stick has become a race to give them personality, style, and fun. There's the slick metal ones, the sushi ones, the usb ring, the cute mimobots, and now some whimsical ones that hint at the storage capacity. When the function of an object is limited to changes, the creative juices kick in to give plain boring products some jazz and spunk! Pictured above is Michael Leungs ruler usb stick which depicts the capacity of a stick based on the length. On the right is a usb bag that acts like a stomach. The more stored in it, the larger it gets. I wonder if you can squeeze the belly to copy data out of it? fun fun fun!

Popsicle lamps!

Some wooden structures by The Art Office have been surfing the net lately. I thought I'd take this opportunity to share how similar this project is to a lamp project I created way back in high school and my early years at RISD. I guess when you have a real studio, you stop buying popsicle sticks and use 2 x 4's. Anyhow, all great stuff!

Ugoff+VW commercials

One of my favorite commercials was the "Ugoff" series for BurgerKing in 2004. Recently some really great VW commercials came out which reminded me of them, and whala...it's the same freakin firm! If you have not seen either series, your missing out! If your a designer, you'll have a great appreciation for the "Ugoff" series. Anyhow, they rock!

Felt Rocks...

I love it when design integrates opposites together. Molodesign brings to us "felt rocks", the soft and pliable rocks that are irresistibly playful. It's great how kids today are hugging ugly dolls, talking sponges, and now theses soft rocks! I'd buy a truck load of theses felt rocks to throw around my office for brainstorms!

Frozen Food Bistro!

"In Paris, bistros are synonymous with cheap and cheerful food. In Hamburg, FRoSTA Bistro serves cheap and cheerful frozen food.... FRoSTA, a mid-sized, forward thinking company with an active blog, manufactures premium frozen foods that are completely free of artificial additives.

The bistro, which opened in November 2005, is a well-design restaurant with chefs working in an open kitchen. For all to see, they prepare frozen foods from FRoSTA's range. Packaging is on display, reinforcing the message that the meals prepared in the bistro are identical to what consumers can buy in a supermarket. "

Pretty freakin cool. Hopefully it taste just as good as it sounds!

Mario Bro Coin Boxes, in reality!

A few bored girls in Ohio took the opportunity to make physical replicas of those "coin boxes" from the classic game "super mario brothers" and place them in random parts of their city, trees primarily. Personally, I think they rock!!! Nothin like jazzin up a city scape with a bit of mario action. Then again, they are being arrested for this prank for reasonable terms.

It's great to see over time how the digital 2D world has influenced our 3D society. There's the pixelated tv screen, pixel art, pixel shirts, these boxes, wallpaper, pixel watch, and tons more out there.

Unnecessary Censorship Shirts

If your a fan of Jimmy Kimmel's TV skit "Unnecessary Censorship", you'll get a kick out of these shirts. You know how TV stations blur out logos, profane images, or words... well, Ironic Sans brings that "blur" to reality with your very own censored-ish shirts. It's funny how people fill in bleeped or blurred images with their own imagination and come up with profane thoughts. Adam Connely is another artists that does pixelated art, though, his images are a bit more obvious from a distance.
